Sixteen bars, one phrase stated twice, and one of the most recognizable pieces in the repertoire: the whole MIDI holds 168 notes. This prelude is a mazurka in zero gravity: the Polish dance rhythm is there, but dreamed rather than danced, like a memory replaying itself.

Its brevity makes it ideal early Chopin, with one caveat: the next-to-last bar holds a wide chord that surprises everyone. It's the only real obstacle, and it rolls elegantly if your hand can't grab it whole. Everything else is a pure lesson in phrasing.
